Accounts & teams#

How do I change my email address?#

Email changes are not self-service — the Email row on your Account screen is read-only. Contact support@fieldfaktor.com and we will change it for you. The same email and password sign you in to both the field app and the dashboard.

Is there two-factor authentication?#

Not yet — the dashboard lists two-factor authentication as Coming soon. In the meantime, your password is the lock on the door: FieldFaktor requires at least 15 characters and checks every password against known breach records. See Create your account.

Can my crew see every project?#

Not by default. A team member sees their own projects plus anything shared with or assigned to them. The Owner can change this per person: check Let them see every project when sending the invite, or use the Views all projects toggle on the dashboard's Team tab any time.

What happens when I remove a team member?#

They lose access to the company, but nothing they produced leaves with them — projects, photos, reports, and history stay with the company. Any open projects stay assigned to them until you reassign them in your dashboard. Their login account is deleted only if FieldFaktor can verify it has no remaining company, project, report, wallet, billing, or audit references.

Projects & inspections#

Do I need an iPhone?#

For capture, yes: the live Guided Capture camera works only in the iOS app — in a browser it shows a layout preview with capture disabled. Room scanning additionally needs an iPhone or iPad with LiDAR. The dashboard at app.fieldfaktor.com runs in any browser on any computer.

What happens to a project when I'm done with it?#

The Projects screen filters with three pills: Active, Completed, and All. A project moves to Completed on its own when its reports are generated — there is no status to set or paperwork to file afterward. See Generate reports.

Can I delete a project?#

Yes, but deleting from the field app is permanent — the project and all its data, with no undo. Company-owned projects can only be deleted by the Owner or a team member who has been granted delete permission. If you want a project out of the way without losing anything, archive it from the dashboard projects list instead — archiving is reversible.

An upload link you text or email from the Documents tab expires in 7 days. The customer can send back PDFs, Word documents, and photos, up to 4 MB per file, with no account or app needed. See Documents and upload links.

Photos & videos#

Are my photos saved to my camera roll?#

On iOS, yes by default — the Save a copy to Photos setting keeps an extra copy in Apple Photos. The project queue inside FieldFaktor remains the primary copy either way, so turning the setting off (to save device space) never puts project photos at risk.

Can I delete a photo after reports have been generated?#

Yes, with one extra step. Once a project has generated reports, deleting a photo asks for a written override reason, and that reason is recorded in the audit log. See Photo review.

Do videos appear in reports?#

Never — videos are documentation for you and your team, not report content. Recordings are capped at 5:00 and roughly 44 MB, and a still-uploading video never blocks report generation.

Reports & credits#

What does a project credit cover?#

One credit covers one project, consumed the moment the project's first report package generates. That single credit covers everything the project produces — the FieldFaktor Inspection Report, the FieldFaktor Photo Report, and the Hail Report where HailBrief has coverage. You are never charged per document, per team member, or per month.

Do credits expire?#

There is no expiry clock. Per the Terms of Service, purchased unused credits remain available while the company account is active and in good standing, and an unused purchased credit can be refunded within 30 days of purchase. Every new company also starts with 5 free credits the moment the account exists.

Who can buy credits?#

The Owner — the Billing tab at app.fieldfaktor.com is visible only to them. Credits cost $30 each with no plans, seats, or subscriptions, and purchases happen on the web, not in the iOS app. See Billing and credits.

Can I edit the report text before generating?#

Yes. The Report Review tab shows the exact text each section of the report will contain, and every section is editable in place before you tap Generate report. Edited sections get a green ✓ Edited chip with a Revert link, so you can always get the original wording back.

Offline & data#

Does FieldFaktor work without signal?#

Yes — photos, videos, and inspection answers all save to your device first and sync automatically when a connection returns. Open each project once while online so it caches on the device. Two things do need a connection: creating a project and generating reports. See Working offline.

Is my data backed up?#

Everything you capture saves to the device first, then uploads on its own while the app is open. When a project's sync pill reads Synced, its inspection data is confirmed in the cloud and no photos are waiting; the Uploads & storage sheet says All media cloud confirmed once every capture has been verified. Until then, the original stays safe on your device.

Do uploads continue after I close the app?#

No — uploads run only while FieldFaktor is open. When you are back on Wi-Fi, leave the app open until the sync pill reads Synced. If something looks stuck, see Troubleshooting.
