Two tabs carry a project's written record. The Log tab tracks what happened and when; the Field and Scope Notes tab is where you write, measure, and export.
The Log tab#
Open the project and tap Log. The Activity Log shows automated activity and added notes in one timeline:
- Automated entries appear as milestones happen — for example "Inspection started." when you begin the inspection, or "Document uploaded." when a file lands on the project.
- Tap Add to write your own note into the timeline — an arrival detail, a conversation with the homeowner, anything worth a timestamp.
Field Notes#
Tap the Field and Scope Notes tab, then the Field Notes segment. This is a free-form pad — scratch measurements, reminders, material observations, whatever you would write on a clipboard.
Scope Notes#
The Scope Notes segment builds rows from what you document in the inspection — each documented item becomes a line with a quantity and unit of measure. Fill the quantities in as you measure; a row that expects a measurement stays outlined in amber until you enter one. An explicit number is the goal here: these are your takeoff quantities, kept next to the findings they came from.
Measure with your iPhone#
On the iOS app, scope rows and the field-note sheet include a Measure button that opens an augmented-reality tape measure:
- Distance — point at one end, then the other, for a straight-line measurement.
- Walk — walk the line for longer runs; walked results are marked "(walked)".
The measured result drops straight into the note or the row's quantity.
Export the notes as a PDF#
- On the Field and Scope Notes tab, tap PDF (it reads Exporting… while it works).
- The share sheet opens with a "Scope & Field Notes" PDF — the filename includes the customer's name, so it stays identifiable in a text thread or email.
This export is built on the device and shared directly — it is separate from the report package on the Documents tab, and generating it uses no project credits. For the full FieldFaktor Inspection Report and Photo Report, see Generate reports.
