Every photo you capture belongs to a visit, so FieldFaktor starts each inspection from a visit list. This article covers opening the inspection, the two arrival photos, and how repeat trips fit inside one inspection.

Open the inspection#

  1. Open the project from the Projects list.
  2. On the Details tab, tap Begin Inspection. (Tapping the Inspection tab at the top of the project goes to the same place.)

The first screen is the visit list — the front door to everything you capture on site. While you work in the Inspection tab, the header swaps to ← Back — from the flow or the completion checklist it returns you to this list; from the list it returns to the Details tab — and Closing → (jumps to the Closing tab). The tab also remembers where you left off in each project, so a return trip may land you straight back in the flow — tap ← Back to reach the visit list.

The visit list#

Three sections:

  • Inspection — the damage story. Tap Open inspection to work the whole inspection; its count line totals every trip and photo so far (for example "2 trips · 41 photos"). Below it sits one row per trip, marked First visit or dated (like "Aug 26"), with the trip's label and photo count. Tap a trip row to view only that trip's photos — a Show all chip in the flow returns you to everything.
  • Completion — the after story. Start completion photos (later, Continue completion photos) opens the completion checklist. See Completion photos.
  • General — unfiled site-condition shots. The General photos row shows the count and opens Photo Review. General photos stay out of every report unless you toggle one in.

Clear the "Before You Begin" gate#

The first time you open the inspection flow, a sheet titled "Before You Begin" asks for two photos: Property Overview and Address Verification. Tap Take Photos Now to capture them — each row shows Captured with a green check once done.

In a hurry? Remind Me Later lets you into the flow, but both photos remain required items on the Closing tab until you take them. If a photo genuinely cannot be captured, either row can instead be disregarded — the app requires a written reason, and the note stays visible on the Closing tab.

Find your way around#

Across the top of the inspection flow:

  • Category navigation: Dwelling · Other Structures · Personal Property
  • Under Dwelling, section navigation: Roof · Front · Right · Back · Left · Interior

Interior rooms and other structures each have their own guided flow — see Interior rooms and Other structures. For taking the photos themselves, most people work from Guided Capture, the full-screen camera that mirrors these same sections.

Trips: one inspection, as many visits as it takes#

An inspection is one record that can span several trips. A supplement walk, an adjuster meeting, or a return for a missed slope is another trip inside the same inspection — not a new inspection, and not a separate visit type. To start one:

  1. On the visit list, tap Add visit.
  2. Type a label if you want one — the field reads Label (optional) — e.g. Adjuster meeting.
  3. Tap Start visit.

While the trip is running, a banner in the flow reads Inspection visit — followed by the label or date, with an End visit button. Every photo you capture during the trip is stamped to it, and the trip survives app restarts and tab hops, so it will not quietly end mid-walk. Tap End visit when the trip is over; photos you take after that belong to the first visit again.
