The Closing tab is your Final Pass over the inspection: one checklist of everything the report still needs — missing photos, blank counts, unanswered questions — plus the close-out questions that write the report's conclusion. When every section is green, you're ready to generate reports.
How the checklist works#
The header tracks your progress: a count of items needing attention and a complete tally (for example, 3 needing attention and 9 of 12 complete) over a progress bar. While anything is unresolved, the tab reminds you: "Items below must be addressed in order to complete this report."
Items group in inspection-walk order under Dwelling, Other Structures, Personal Property, Additional items, and Report conclusion. Finished work collapses into a Done (N) row — expand it to see each completed item marked Complete (or From inspection when the app resolved it from your capture work), each with an Edit button to reopen it. Items you skipped collect under Skipped (N), each showing the reason you wrote, with an Undo button.
Clearing the items#
Each card explains what's missing and offers the shortest route to fix it — an Open Roof (or similar) button jumps straight to the right spot in the Inspection tab.
- Missing photos capture inline — the card shows the requirement with "Tap to take a photo, hold for gallery". No need to leave the tab.
- Roof slope cards with blank test-square counts show inline count fields (for shingle roofs, Hail hits / test square and Wind-damaged units / slope). Entering 0 is a real answer; leaving a field blank is not.
- Elevation cards flag damage without a material: "Damage was documented on the front elevation, but its siding type has not been selected." Open the elevation and pick the siding type.
- Unlabeled Photos appears when a damage photo has no damage label — the report would otherwise caption it with text nobody wrote. The card's button — labeled Label N photos now, where the count matches your unlabeled photos — walks you through each photo with the same labeling flow you use at capture.
The three assessments#
Three Yes/No cards confirm what the report will say about the interior, other structures, and personal property:
- Interior — "Interior damage observed or reported?" and "Interior inspection declined by homeowner?" A declined inspection also asks for the homeowner's reason.
- Other Structures — "Are there other structures on the property?" and "Did the homeowner decline inspection of other structures?"
- Personal Property — "Is the homeowner claiming damage to personal property?" and "Did you observe damage to personal property?"
Where your inspection already answers a question, the app pre-answers it and shows the reason with an Auto from inspection — prefix (for example, "Auto from inspection — Interior rooms or photos document that the inspection occurred."). Auto answers come from evidence, so deleting the evidence clears them. Your manual answer always wins — but if it contradicts documented evidence, the card stays open and tells you what the evidence suggests. Assessments can't be skipped.
Skipping an item with Disregard#
Some required items can be intentionally skipped. Tap Disregard on the card, and a sheet titled Skip [item name]? asks you to document why: "Document why this required item was not completed. The note stays visible in Final Pass." Skip item stays disabled until you type a reason. The item moves to Skipped (N) with your note attached, and Undo brings it back any time.
The Report conclusion#
The Report conclusion card holds the close-out — the questions that write your report's conclusion. It counts as one required item on the checklist.
- Inspection conclusion — Storm damage found, No storm damage found, or Condition assessment.
- Recommended scope of work — No work needed, Repair, Partial replacement, or Full replacement.
- What is driving the recommendation — select every reason that applies (Hail damage, Wind damage, Age / end of service life, and more); these become the report's "based on…" clause.
- How soon the work should happen — Immediate — active leak or safety risk, Prompt — before the next storm season, or Routine — plan and budget.
- Insurance claim recommendation — Recommend filing, Do not recommend, or Homeowner's decision.
Questions appear only when they apply — drivers and urgency only once you recommend work, the insurance-claim question only when the conclusion is storm damage (or a condition assessment that could be weather-related), and a partial replacement asks which areas are included and why partial rather than full.
Answers are pre-suggested from your documented findings, but nothing writes itself: an orange Suggested chip means the findings point to that answer and you haven't confirmed it yet; a green From findings chip means your saved answer matches the findings. You confirm every answer.
When everything is green#
The tab shows All sections complete — "Nothing is holding up this report." — with a Go to Reports button. From there, generate your reports.
